Tree ring mulching ... also called tree circles or mulch rings ... creates a protective zone of mulch around the base of trees. This practice protects surface roots from mower and string-trimmer damage, retains moisture for the root zone, regulates soil temperature, and improves long-term tree health. A properly installed mulch ring can significantly extend tree life.
