Depths describe the total mulch layer, including mulch already in place, not the amount to add each year. Adjust planting-bed depth for plant size, material texture, and drainage; keep trunks, stems, and crowns clear. Pathway depths serve a different use, and playground depths must come from product-specific safety documentation.
